LETTER OF THE YEAR 2020
In this year 2020, the motto “Like Mary, the first disciple, give us a listening heart that gladly does whatever He tells us” unites all those who share the charism of the Teresian Association.
On October 26, 2019, the Our Lady of China convened the Teresian Association in Taiwan to Her sanctuary in Meishan to fulfill the promise of “Voto de Covadonga”.
On the occasion of the Feast of the Assumption of Mary the association greetings come to us this year from Italy underlining the desire to carry a message of hope and welcome for all.
August 12 is the 83rd anniversary of the martyrdom of Blessed Victoria Díez, a young teacher and member of the Teresian Association who gave her life in the town of Hornachuelos, confessing her faith in Jesus Christ, at the beginning of the Spanish Civil War.
In line with the Teresian Association Assemblies commitment with the family, TA in Florida held a retreat for adults and children to share on the eve of Pentecost.
The Permanent Council of the Italian Bishops Conference CEI has appointed Maddalena Pievaioli, member of the Teresian Association, new General Secretary of the CNAL, National Consultation di Aggregazioni Laicali, National Consultation of the Lay Associations, on the 22nd of May.
A large group of members and friends of the Teresian Association in Italy celebrated the Passover this year in Carini, near Palermo, with the motto of the year “The Incarnation well understood”, as its central theme.
Maite Uribe Bilbao, president of the Teresian Association, proposes that the motto “Lord, be for us the way, the truth and the life. Make us eminently human and wholly of God” may unite those inspired by Saint Pedro Poveda’s spirituality and charism during this year.

During the 20th Lay Congress of the Philippines, held last October, in the diocese of Legazpi, the National Board of the Council of the Laity was renewed. Rosalinda Basas, member of the Teresian Association, was re-elected secretary.
For the first time, the First World Day of the Poor, instituted by Pope Francis on the XXXIII Sunday in Ordinary Time, will be celebrated on November 19. The message is titled: "Let us love, not with words but with deeds.”
Since this year marks the centennial of the diocesan and civil approval of the Teresian Association in Jaén,1917, its founder Pedro Poveda, the saint from Linares, had an important relevance in the presentations of the XXX Congress of the Association of Archivists of the Church in Spain, September 11-15. Attendees also visited Guadix to learn about the altruistic work of Father Poveda.
In the afternoon of May 20, the auditorium of Colegio Mayor Poveda in Madrid was filled with people interested in a subject that, at first glance, does not seem to have much appeal today. The event was the presentation of a book by Anabela Neves Rodrigues, member of the Teresian Association in Portugal, titled "La luz que nosilumina” (The light that illuminates us.)
