WE ARE INVOLVED
The Teresian Association, as has been mentioned on several occasions, supports the Global Educational Pact to which Pope Francis is calling believers and non-believers.
As a sign of this support, and in response to the invitation made by the International Office of Catholic Education (OIEC), we have inserted the official logo of the Global Educational Pact (PEG) on this website.
In this way, we contribute to giving more visibility to this invitation of Pope Francis and to promoting the global impulse to education.
The logo represents a world, embraced by a human figure. At the center of the world, there is the human person who carries out an action of care and protection of the world, of the Common Home that has been entrusted to him. The line of the circle symbolizes that macrocosm that is God and expresses the beginning and the end of everything: being, totality.
Colours included represent:
- Green, recalls nature, growth, renewal and also hope, the possibility of “sowing” prophetic dreams.
- Blue, our spiritual dimension, and also what we would like to contribute to achieving: Peace.
- Gold, represents the light, the sacred. For every covenant, every covenant for the common good, for the good of humanity, has something sacred in it.
Goals for a Global commitment
In a videomessage to the participants in the meeting “Global compact on Education. Together to look beyond”, held on October 15, 2020, Pope Francis recalled that this Pact seeks a personal and communitarian commitment on the following points:
- To make human persons in their value and dignity the centre of every educational programme, both formal and informal, in order to foster their distinctiveness, beauty and uniqueness, and their capacity for relationship with others and with the world around them, while at the same time teaching them to reject lifestyles that encourage the spread of the throwaway culture.
- To listen to the voices of children and young people to whom we pass on values and knowledge, in order to build together a future of justice, peace and a dignified life for every person.
- To encourage the full participation of girls and young women in education.
- To see in the family the first and essential place of education.
- To educate and be educated on the need for acceptance and in particular openness to the most vulnerable and marginalized.
- To be committed to finding new ways of understanding the economy, politics, growth and progress that can truly stand at the service of the human person and the entire human family, within the context of an integral ecology.
- To safeguard and cultivate our common home, protecting it from the exploitation of its resources, and to adopt a more sober lifestyle marked by the use of renewable energy sources and respect for the natural and human environment, in accordance with the principles of subsidiarity, solidarity and a circular economy.
