HOLY LAND

The new premises where a group of the TA carries out its mission with various courses of attention to migrants and refugees in the Holy Land were blessed and inaugurated in a simple ceremony on November 6.

This activity, supported by the Pontifical Mission of Jerusalem, aims to collaborate in maintaining and supporting the Christian presence in the Holy Land. It is currently being carried out by a group of TA members from the Philippines and India.

Father Nicodemus Schnabel, OSB, Patriarchal Vicar for Migrants and Asylum Seekers, blessed the premises in the presence of the regional director of the Pontifical Mission, Joseph Hazboun.

Fr Nicodemus Schnabel, osb said that he was extremely happy because the Church of Jerusalem, the Church of the Holy Land is not only the Church of the established Christians who are really caring the mission of Christianity through the centuries, that is, the Arabic-speaking Palestinian Christians. There is a new phenomenon, the Christian immigrant workers and asylum seekers. “They too are part of the Church of the Holy Land -he affirmed- and I am very happy that we as Christians support each other.”

He praised the activity of the Teresian Association with the migrant workers to help them grow spiritually, intellectually, and in the Word of God.

The Pontifical Mission reflects the local church’s openness to the entire world through its support and aid to refugees.

Joseph Hazboun Regional Director CNEWA* - Pontifical Mission of Jerusalem, added that “The local Church is a Church that has been open to the world since its inception, and is composed of many nationalities. In the Acts of the Apostles, at the time of the descent of the Holy Spirit we read: We are Parthians, Elamites, Arabs and others. It is really beautiful to see the Church of Jerusalem, which still lives in the spirit of the primitive Church: a Church open to all and not closed in on itself.”

The uninterrupted activity of the Jerusalem Pontifical Mission helps to welcome the community of immigrants in the solitude of their condition, so that they may grow in the Word of God.
