The Association of Education and Culture and the Migrants and Refugees Group of the Teresian Association organised the 5th Encounter of “Youth for Interculturality” from 27 to 31 July. This initiative offers an experience of inclusion and intercultural dialogue, with presentations, discussions, workshops, cultural visits, gastronomy, music, language, culture and reflection on what it means to build an active intercultural citizenship. Each year, a specific theme is explored.

The 23 participants in this encounter, held in Santa María de Trassierra, Córdoba, came from Cameroon, Egypt, Gambia, Guinea-Conakry, Iraq, Morocco, Peru, Western Sahara and Spain.

This year's theme was Crossing Borders. As in previous years, La casa Emaús hosted the event. The Association of Education and Culture (Proyecto Rajab, Jaén), the Association for Equality and Social Development (AID, Córdoba) and AMISI (Barcelona) were also present at the encounter.

The participants took part in welcome activities and got to know each other. Every day, there was time for swimming, and cooperative games and competitions were held. There was also a night-time party by the pool. The gathering concluded with an evaluation session and farewell. The young people summed up the experience in three words: ‘Strength, joy and hope.’
