The Narcea publishing house has contributed to strengthening education in Chinautla by donating teaching materials worth 6,000 euros to the Pedro Poveda Foundation.
This initiative forms part of the project, funded by Madrid City Council: “Quality primary and secondary education based on gender and rights approaches for girls, boys and adolescents at risk of educational exclusion in Chinautla, Guatemala”, promoted by the InteRed Foundation, an NGDO of the Teresian Association, in collaboration with its local partner organisation, the Pedro Poveda Foundation.
A key contribution
Narcea Ediciones' contribution consists of a payment in kind in the form of a selection of specialist books on pedagogy, educational psychology, educational innovation, inclusion and socio-emotional development.
These materials will strengthen the Pedro Poveda Foundation’s library, becoming essential tools for both teachers and pupils.
The main aim of this donation is to improve teaching practice and enrich learning processes by providing resources that promote inclusive methodologies, a rights-based approach and gender equality within the educational environment.
The project aims to ensure inclusive and equitable education, with a particular focus on gender equality and safeguarding the right to education for those at risk of exclusion. In this regard, providing access to up-to-date educational resources is a key step towards strengthening teachers’ capabilities and creating fairer and more effective learning environments.

Education and the SDGs
Narcea’s contribution is in line with its Corporate Social Responsibility policies, as well as with its commitment to helping achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly those relating to quality and inclusive education (SDG 4).
As a leading publisher in the field of education, Narcea is thus making its catalogue available to contexts facing greater challenges, promoting access to knowledge and professional development for teachers.
A partnership that makes a difference
The collaboration between Narcea, InteRed and the Pedro Poveda Foundation reflects the importance of partnerships between the publishing sector, social organisations and public authorities in driving real change in vulnerable educational contexts.
