'Superholidays' is the name of a project that takes place during the July holidays at the Virgen María de África Educational Centre of the Teresian Association in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea.
It consists of a series of activities carried out during the month of July with the aim of enabling children and young people to take advantage of the holidays to learn and have fun, creating spaces for being together where all participants enrich each other and learn to respect differences.
This year, the ‘Superholidays’ took place from 7 to 31 July, with the slogan ‘I learn and have fun’. A total of 100 children and young people, from third year primary school to fourth year secondary school, took part, accompanied by 14 volunteers, three teachers from the centre and one person from the TA.
The activities included language and mathematics reinforcement, workshops (promoting reading, jewellery making, guitar, IT, English, braiding, football and basketball) and various games.
Every morning, the day began with a motivational message, followed by a prayer. This was followed by remedial classes, workshops and games.
Active learning with a recreational approach and the development of practical skills in a collaborative environment have been promoted.
During the classes and workshops, depending on the level of participation and involvement of the children and young people, they earned tickets (IT) that they used to buy items at the market set up on the last day of the ‘Superholidays’.
It has been a very rewarding and enriching experience for all participants.
