Bethlehem University Library proudly celebrated the closing of its annual Summer Camp on 17 July 2026, marking the end of two inspiring weeks filled with learning, exploration, creativity, and friendship. Held under the theme “Love Your Palestinian Heritage,” the camp provided young participants with meaningful experiences that deepened their connection to Palestinian culture, traditions, and identity.
Organized by the Bethlehem University Zbierski Library through the Turathuna – George Nasra Center for Palestinian Heritage, the Turathuna Summer Camp was held from 6th to the 17th July and welcomed 40 participants aged 12–16 from seven differentschools. Through interactive activities, cultural visits, workshops, and team-building experiences, students embarked on a journey to discover the richness of Palestinian heritage while building confidence, creativity, and lasting friendships.
Discovering Palestinian Heritage
The campers explored the beauty and diversity of Palestinian history and culture through educational visits to important heritage sites in Bethlehem and beyond. These experiences allowed students to connect with their roots and see heritage come to life, including
- Palestinian Heritage Center, hosted by Ms. Maha Saca, where students learned about Palestinian traditional crafts, clothing, and cultural heritage.
- Dar Al-Majus Community Home, discovering its role in preserving local culture and community values.
- Salesian International Museum and Crib Exhibition, exploring historical and cultural collections.
- El Riwaya Museum – Peace Center, learning about Bethlehem’s history and stories.
- Trip to Battir, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where students explored its unique cultural landscape of terraces, agriculture, and traditions. The visit was part of a joint program initiated by the Zbierski Library, which invited the Palestine Institute for Biodiversity and Sustainability and their campers to participate in this shared heritage experience.

Creativity, Learning, and Fun
The camp encouraged students to express themselves through a variety of creative workshops and activities, including
- Clay molding
- Mandala art
- Tote bag painting
- Mirror painting
Alongside cultural learning, the program created many joyful moments through sports, games, quizzes, teamwork activities, and a fun-filled swimming day. These activities strengthened friendships and encouraged collaboration among participants.
A Memorable Closing Celebration
The camp concluded with a warm and joyful closing ceremony attended by students, parents, and special guests. The celebration featured a presentation highlighting the two-week journey, followed by a heartfelt video capturing the unforgettable moments, laughter, learning experiences, and friendships created throughout the camp.
During the ceremony, Ms. Maha Saca, founder of the Palestinian Heritage Center, and Dr. Iman Saca, Academic Vice President of Bethlehem University, addressed the audience. They expressed their delight in seeing the young campers enthusiastically engage in a wide range of educational, cultural, and creative activities throughout the two weeks. They highlighted the importance of introducing children to Palestinian heritage, traditions, and identity through meaningful experiences that inspire pride, belonging, and a deeper appreciation of their culture.
