The Teresian Association is collaborating in taking care of the Kishori group (teenage girls group) at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish in Anand, Gujarat - India, where monthly meetings are held. These girls took part in the ‘Girl Child Day’ event of the Diocese, with around 500 girls from different parishes participating. The Bishop of the Diocesis of Ahmedabad, Athanasius Rethna Swamy, was attending the meeting too.

Mary as model

The day included two main sessions: one focused on Mary as a role model for girls, and the other on how young girls can protect themselves from abuse and build self-esteem and empower themselves with dignity as a girl child.

The workshop was dynamic and interactive, involving role-play and clarification of doubts. Many girls were able to voice their concerns about the challenges they face as a girl child.

The day ended with a solemn Eucharist presided by Bishop Athanasius Rethna Swamy, and each girl received a bracelet rosary and a bookmark.

It was a program to sensitive teenage girls in gender education, buen trato and dignity. They enjoyed singing and dancing with the group and had the opportunity to meet with other girls belonging to the same diocese.
