The Youth for Cultural Exchange camp took place once again during the first week of July. It was organised by the Rajab Project (Jaen) which is part of the local Education and Culture Association, by the Mambré Welcome Centre run by the Cordoba Association for Equality and Development, and by the AMISI Association. These projects work for the inclusion of migrants and people at risk of exclusion. A document has been compiled that collects the testimonies of participants with their impressions of this experience. They mostly described it as ‘enriching’.
Once again this year, the Santa María de Trassierra Camp brought together young people from different countries including Algeria, Morocco, Equatorial Guinea, Senegal, Gambia, Angola, Mali, Iraq, Peru and Venezuela. The Emmaus House of Spirituality hosted the group for four days from 4 to 7 July. During this time, they were able to share life experiences, get to know each other better and enjoy nature.
At the conclusion of this experience, the participants left a few words of thanks and gave their impressions of the activity. This was to encourage other young people to participate in intercultural exchange experiences. They generally agreed that ‘dialogue in diversity opens our minds and always enriches’. One participant, Rashida, said that ‘it was a wonderful experience, an oasis in the desert of migration, a time of respite and an opportunity to unload worries and recharge our batteries.’
In general, they thank ‘the people who make this meeting possible with their work, money, facilitating and wisdom.’
