The Parish Youth Day celebration in Santa Monica Parish, Pinamungajan, Cebu, took a significant leap forward on February 28 to March 1 with a vibrant Vocation Jamboree.
The event brought together 764 participants, aged 13-35. There were 41 congregations/ groups who joined in the Vocation Jamboree thus making it a remarkable gathering of young people and vocation promoters. The Vocation Jamboree was packed with engaging activities, including three insightful talks on different states of life: Married Life, Consecrated Life, and Single Blessedness.
The participants were divided into manageable groups, rotating through each talk to gain a deeper understanding of their vocational paths. The Teresian Association's lay vocation emphasizes living out one's faith in everyday life. Dr. Lucille Abad shared her experience in scientific research and as an inventor, showing how her faith inspires her work.
Ms. Maria del Carmen Cabanig spoke about her work in finance and management, plus her involvement in pastoral work as a catechist. What made this event truly special was the interactive exhibit booths, where attendees could connect with vocation promoters, explore various charisms and spiritualities, and discover the diverse fields of mission. The energy was palpable as young people explored, questioned, and discerned their callings. This celebration not only marked the Parish Youth Day but also inspired a new wave of vocational awareness and enthusiasm among the youth.
"Pistang Bokasyon"
We had a great time sharing about vocations at the "Pistang Bokasyon" or Vocation Feast last March 1, 2026 in the afternoon, at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Academy, Minglanilla, Cebu. The event, "Brewing Vocation: A call to Fruitful Mission in a Church fully alive" (John 15:5), brought together 300 young people from various youth organizations and schools, including Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, St. Cecilia's College, and Montessori Academy.
The talk show-style discussion featured representatives from different vocations - religious life, priesthood, married life, and single blessedness - who shared their experiences, challenges, and insights. Ms. Maria del Carmen Cabanig spoke about single blessedness and lay vocation as a member of the TA Primary Association, while booth exhibits allowed attendees to explore various vocations. Mrs. Vilma Laranas, a TA-ACIT member, who stayed at the booth distributed vocation materials of the TA. The complete Teresian Association was truly represented in this vocation promotion work. The event ended with hour of prayer of adoration and singing of lively worship songs, making it a memorable experience for all.
