On 30 November, the Teresian Association in Argentina closed the year of thanksgiving, celebrations and activities to commemorate 100 years since the pontifical approval of the TA. They gathered for Mass and a get-together of friends at the headquarters in Buenos Aires.
In the Parish of San Isidro Labrador -- in the neighbourhood of Núñez which is where the headquarters of the Association is located -- members, alumni, co-workers and friends came together. With grateful memory, together with the parish community, they presented the life of the people and the projects of the Association in Argentina as well as the presence of the charism of St Pedro Poveda in other parts of the world.
The Eucharist was concelebrated by Rev. Richard Fernández Caride, parish priest of San Isidro, and the curate, Rev. Martín Legón. They expressed gratitude for the presence of the Association; for the witness and dedication of its members; for the depth of the charism and its contribution to education and culture; for its ability to communicate and bring about change.
As it was the beginning of Advent, Fr Richard invited us to live in expectation and hope. He named St Pedro Poveda as a model of those who build bridges of hope and called on the Association to continue to be a bridge-builder and a communicator of Good News.
Fr Martin gave an emotional final blessing to all the people of the TA who were present and he expressed his hope that the centenary year had been a time of grace that bore much fruit.
After Mass, those present continued their conversations with each other in a simple family atmosphere at the headquarters of the Association. They shared ‘family anecdotes’ and spoke of people who had passed away, and they recalled the various meetings held during the year.
The centenary of pontifical approval has been and continues to be a time of meetings and gatherings in Argentina, a time to renew life and mission and a year to give thanks.
