The InteRed Foundation, an NGDO run by the Teresian Association, has announced that the director, Ana Arancibia, has ended her tenure with the organization. Her successor, Aitziber Barrueta, has recently taken over this role.
After six and a half years leading InteRed and more than two decades in the organisation, Ana Arancibia has ended her time at the InteRed Foundation.
‘Ana has been much more than a director. She has been a guide, a partner, an inspiration and a driving force for change. Her tireless commitment to human rights, her motivating enthusiasm and her immense capacity for work have left an indelible mark on all of us who are part of InteRed. Since her arrival in 2003, and especially in her role as director since 2018, she has guided projects, faced challenges and built bridges to continue transforming lives with hope and determination,’ InteRed explains.
As a parting gesture, they have dedicated a ‘video tribute, which reflects, even if only partially, the huge journey travelled with her’.
New leadership
Aitziber Barrueta is now at the helm of InteRed. She has a solid background in the field of international cooperation and education. She has been part of the InteRed team since 1996 overseeing projects, programmes and agreements in different parts of the world. For years, she has been responsible for cooperation in Asia and, more recently, she has led the Africa Programme, demonstrating her ability to make an impact in all kinds of settings and her firm commitment to human rights.
In addition to her experience in project management, Aitziber has a degree in Economic Law from the University of Deusto in Bilbao in Spain, and has worked in international organisations. Since 2013 she has represented the Teresian Association at the United Nations Human Rights Council. ‘Her in-depth knowledge of the sector and her closeness to the teams and communities we work with make her an ideal person to lead this new stage of InteRed,’ the NGDO concludes.
