On 20 March, the Teresian Association Schools Executive and Advisory Council (CEACIT) convened a meeting with the executive teams of three Chilean schools --Alberto Pérez in Maipú, Teresa Brown in Ariztía de La Calera and Teresian Association in Las Condes. This was the first meeting of the year 2025.
The 19th General Assembly of the Teresian Association asked us ‘to engage in integral and inclusive education that encourages interior life, dialogue and critical awareness and recognizes the centrality of the person...’.
With this commitment and with the energy we still feel from the first Centenary of Pontifical Approval, the Teresian Association Schools Executive and Advisory Council (CEACIT) convened a meeting with the executive teams of three Chilean schools --Alberto Pérez in Maipú, Teresa Brown in Ariztía de La Calera and Teresian Association in Las Condes. This first meeting in 2025 was held on 20 March.
The focus of the meeting was to give further impetus to the mission of the Association through these schools, each within the framework of its competencies, to ‘collaborate in the training of educators and co-workers in their personal, academic, professional and spiritual development in the light of the charism of the Teresian Association’.
The morning began with a time of welcome. There was a pause for prayer before we embarked on the topic of ‘Pedro Poveda’s educational approach and the challenges for Teresian leadership posed by the contemporary environment in our schools’. This was presented by Maria Dolores Peralta, advisor to CEACIT.
Reflections
Following the talk, there was time for personal reflection to address the following questions: How do I feel called to embark on this new stage through my work in the light of the charism of Pedro Poveda? What strategies can I introduce through my leadership role to address the situation that has been described?
Then there was reflection in groups according to roles. The questions for discussion were -- How can we respond to the calls and challenges of Poveda's educational approach, and what opportunities does the contemporary context give us to exercise our leadership role according to the main principles of Povedan educational thought?
The morning ended with a ‘Colloquium’ in which the participants were invited to share the reflections, comments and highlights discussed in the groups. This gave rise to some interesting spontaneous interventions.
After lunch, we continued with the presentation of the topics proposed at the annual meeting of the three schools held in June 2024. Our objective was to select the most frequently mentioned topics and prioritise three of them. These are to be discussed during the next 2025 Meeting in which all those working in these schools will take part.
