The Pedro Poveda Institute in Buenos Aires, Argentina, celebrated Family Day on Sunday, 18 May. The event took place in a festive atmosphere, with a variety of activities.

Family Day at the Pedro Poveda Institute was a Sunday filled with joy, sharing, laughter, games, singing and dancing. The entire Poveda community took part: girls, boys and young people, parents, grandparents, teachers, school staff, friends... It was a real celebration, as we could feel in the atmosphere.

The day began with a pilgrimage through the countryside to celebrate the Jubilee Year. On the way we recalled some of Pope Francis' messages, especially those inviting us to live in hope, tenderness, peace, fellowship and to dream big...

Mass was also celebrated for the Graduation of those students who are finishing their education at the school, along with their families.  During the ceremony, new families were warmly welcomed.

A space for solidarity

At the same time, this event was also an opportunity to express solidarity. The purchase of food and drinks contributed to funds for the educational trips of the 6th grade primary and 3rd grade secondary students, to the collection for the secondary retreat leaders, and to the purchase of handicrafts from the women of the Amancay Project. The youth ministry leaders led the pilgrimage and games for the primary school children, while the families contributed cakes. The maintenance staff also deserve special mention for their willingness to help with everything.

It was a beautiful day to encourage us to start the year with great hope.
