Lugo Cathedral hosted a thanksgiving Mass to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the pontifical approval of the Teresian Association.

The event was held on 31 May at the chapel of Nuestra Señora de los Ojos Grandes. It coincided with the Marian feast of the Visitation of Mary to her cousin Elizabeth. It was presided over by Manuel Castro and concelebrated by Indalesio Gómez and José Lebón.
In his homily, Manuel Castro spoke about the values of the Povedan charism which include the importance of life, of education to help overcome poverty, of learning to be with others and of faith.
The Teresian Association was and is present in Galicia in a significant way, especially in Vigo and Santiago de Compostela. Several TA members have worked professionally in A Coruña, Villagarcía de Arousa and Ourense.
In the city of Lugo, the TA is known through some former students and the teacher María Ángeles Darriba, who taught in state schools in various towns in the province. Now retired, she has settled in Lugo, but she is still active in two rural parishes and participates in Prayer and Friendship Groups (GOA).
