On September 17, the members of the TA in Manila, friends and collaborators celebrated the Covadonga Votive Offering or better known in Spanish as the “Voto de Covadonga”, by making a pilgrimage to a parish dedicated to Our Lady of Remedies.

Our Lady of Remedies parish had been the one who welcomed to the Philippines the first members of the Association who arrived in 1950.

Father Andrei Paz, Columban, acting parish priest, warmly received the pilgrims to the parish in the parish hall. He invited them to the Mass that would be held later in the parish church, within the context of the Season of Creation that commemorates the ‘Laudato Si’ enciclica.

The pilgrims spent some time in devout prayer of love and thanksgiving to Our Lady which ended with a flower offering.

During the Mass, they participated actively in prayer and singing, having in mind the reason for their pilgrimage.voto manila3

The tradition of Covadonga Votive Offering goes back to the year 1934 when after the second General Assembly of the Teresian Association, all its participants went to Covadonga in the northern part of Spain, upon the express desire of Pedro Poveda, to thank Our Lady there for having inspired him to found the Teresian Association.

The Association celebrates this Marian pilgrimage yearly around the feasts of Our Lady in September or October.
