TA Members from Tainan and Taipei gathered together for the annual community pilgrimage to Our Lady of Fatima Shrine in Wulai, Taipei, on Saturday, May 18, 2024.

During the pilgrimage, members are reminded to seek light, comfort, assistance, and protection from Our Lady of Covadonga, the birthplace of the Teresian Association.

Share the charism

columna taiwanDespite the weather forecast for rain, the day turned out to be sunny and nice, given by the Lord, so we rejoice.

As we first believed we were the only pilgrimage group in the church, we divided our work to prepare the liturgy. There were many other pilgrims in the Shrine unexpectedly. Gregoria Ruiz, TA President stated in her letter of the year “We want to share the charism where we are... opening our communities and groups to other seekers of meaning, of fellowship experience and fraternity…”

It was a great chance to share our charism with around one hundred pilgrims at the pilgrimage site. Chen Mei Ching spoke about our association. The group prepared the Holy Mass and had a strong connection to the Voto de Covadonga. We ended the Holy Mass with a joyful flower offering to Our Lady. Everyone felt renewed and the Teresian spirit rekindled.

Living water

We also visited the Neidong National Forest Recreation Area. It has the best ecological preserved waterfalls, streams, and forests in northern Taipei. We all took a break from our daily routines and happily relaxed in the cool afternoon forest air and admiring the waterfalls. We chatted with each other and created beautiful memories.

Jojoh Lepatan, a PA member shares: “While viewing the waterfall, a thought came to my mind: Jesus said, Whoever drinks the water that I will give will never thirst, and the water that I will give will become a spring of water welling up to eternal life. (John 4:14). The waterfall is like a living spring. Jesus is the source of the living spring. The joy and peace He give us are like the feelings of the two disciples at Emmaus meeting Jesus in resurrection: heats our hearts and changes our lives!”

Francesca Lin, an ACIT member shares her prayer: “I am grateful to the Holy Mother of God, who desires to be the Mother of the Church and our role model, being gentle, strong, and obedient. Please, Mary, continue to intercede for the Teresian Association, so that after receiving so much grace, we can be courageous enough to bear witness in our lives, be instruments of the Lord, and work for the Kingdom of God.”
