The Pedro Poveda Chair of the Pontifical University of Salamanca (Spain) has announced the holding of its 2nd International Congress on ‘Humanising education in a digital age’. The event will be held from 5 to 8 February 2025 in person at this university.

Objective of the Congress
The aim of this international congress, which is being framed from a positive perspective, is to encourage ‘dialogue that will help to identify the real challenges of humanisation in what has been described as artificial civilisation and its specific repercussions in the field of education’.
The intention is ‘to take a look at where we want to go from here in the new world order that is emerging, in the complexity of the changes of a global civilisation that is moving towards hypermodernity, the revolution of superintelligence, transhumanist ideology and post-human culture.’
‘Artificial intelligence is a fascinating yet alarming instrument that demands reflection that is up to this challenge,’ Pope Francis said at the G7 session on artificial intelligence on 14 June 2024. He also added that the advent of this technological advance ‘represents a true cognitive-industrial revolution which will contribute to the creation of a new social system characterised by complex epochal transformations.’
For all these reasons, the Congress organisers say that it is necessary to ‘build societies with a high degree of human quality and a profound ethical sense which place the dignity of the person at the centre. It is to train educators committed to this orientation in themselves and in their work in transformative education’.
To whom is it addressed?
The Second International Conference on ‘Humanising education in a digital age’ is intended for university teachers and researchers, educators in different fields and educational levels, educational institutions, and university students of teacher training and educational sciences.
