Last Sunday, September 14, thirty young people from the Association in the Democratic Republic of Congo participated in the second online session of the International Meeting of Young People of the Teresian Association (EIJIT 2026), focused on the theme: “Listening to the cry of creation: the ecological wisdom of biblical traditions.”
The meeting, held via Zoom and attended by people from all corners of the world, was led by Elisa Estevez, a member of the PA, who holds a degree in Biblical Sciences and a doctorate in Theology. Through her presentation, the young people discovered biblical references that highlight the beauty of creation, the interconnection and interdependence of human beings with it, as well as their responsibility in the work of creation.
After the session, the young people made an ecological Way of the Cross to unite the suffering of Christ with that of Creation and communities, listening to the cry of the Earth and of the Poor in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Young people in Congo take action
Meanwhile, young people in the DRC are very active. They are committed to caring for the Earth and are therefore going to plant and tend various crops: “Together we can care for the Earth,” they proclaim from their country.
They also carry out other activities, such as visiting vulnerable people, to whom they recently took gifts that they had earned through their own efforts during Lent.
