The library in Holguín, Cuba, brought together some twenty teachers and students to identify together the tools necessary for inclusive education.
This Centre makes education a priority and calls on educators and learners to pursue the courses provided so that they can update their knowledge regarding teaching and learning.
Marybetsi Calcerrada, PhD in Educational Sciences, professor of Psychology at the University of Holguín and full professor at the Casa de Altos Estudios in Havana, gave the lecture. She urged educators to adopt inclusive methods with regard to modern working models that allow us to educate people with sensitivity and a capacity for dialogue without locking ourselves into traditional gender biases.
Factors such as race, social background and academic skills were discussed during the one-hour conference. It forms part of a trilogy of topics that educators in Holguín will be able to attend in the months of April to June to respond to their desire for lifelong learning.
The Diocesan Library, entrusted to the Teresian Association, is part of InteRed's cooperation projects in support of human development and social transformation. It also has a Resource Centre equipped with computers that facilitate these activities. This has been acquired through a cooperation project with the NGO PRODOCS to provide computer resources.
