On the feast of its patron, Saint Ferdinand III, the city of Seville (Spain) has awarded the 2025 Medal to the Teresian Association for its one-hundred-year presence in the city. “This medal recognises a century of sowing the future with a call to service” through “an education that integrates faith, culture and social justice.” These were the words introducing the award.
The ceremony, held on the eve of 30 May, feast of Saint Ferdinand, took place in the Palacio de Congresos, where the City Council presented the city's honorary distinctions.
Thirty medals and two recognitions were awarded to a wide, multiple and diverse list of people, groups, companies, entities and institutions. Among these, the educational work of the Teresian Association (TA), present in Seville since 1925, was recognised.
The presentation was made by the Mayor of the city, Mr. José Luis Sanz, and the Medal was collected by Mª del Carmen Aragonés, Director of the Spain Sector, on behalf of the TA in Seville. In her words, she expressed her gratitude for “this recognition and endorsement of the trajectory of this international association of lay people who, for one hundred years, have worked to further education, promote the role of women and to be present in educational and cultural spheres. It is an endorsement that invites us to continue with in our educational and cultural work going forward,” she said.
