The Board of Directors and the Rector's Office of the Instituto Superior de Estudios Educativos Pedro Poveda (ISESP) (Pedro Poveda Institute of Advanced Education Studies) in the Dominican Republic held an Academic Ceremony of Appreciation for Dominican teacher and thinker Argentina Henríquez in acknowledgment of her socio-educational legacy and significant contributions in the academic field to the formation of critical consciousness and social transformation.

The event was held on the morning of Thursday, August 14, in the auditorium of the Pedro Henríquez Ureña Building at ISESP and was organized and sponsored by the Rector's Office. Approximately 125 people attended, including renowned educators, researchers, students, graduates, members of the national educational community, and representatives of the Teresian Association.

The president of the Board of Directors, Biviana Brito Torres, opened the meeting with warm and encouraging words of welcome. Francisca del Carmen Ferreira Genao, a teacher, presented a profile of Argentina, while Raymundo González wrote a critical essay on her educational legacy and contributions to education. For his part, Nicolás Guevara, also a teacher, dedicated his poem “Gratitude” to her.

The keynote address was given by ISESP Rector, Dinorah García Romero, who highlighted Argentina Henríquez's work: “She has educated and continues to educate in difficult times and is therefore a genuine representative of what it means to work and enjoy a socio-educational mission in changing, turbulent times marked by uncertainty,” she said.

At the end of the ceremony, a video testimonial was presented with the meaningful and heartfelt assessments ofReconocimiento Argentina Henríquez ramo de flores Pedro Acevedo, Josefina ZaiterÁngel Paredes, Celeste Abreu y María Amalia León.

Various ISESP authorities presented Ms. Henríquez with a “Certificate of Appreciation,” along with a beautiful bouquet of flowers and a plaque bearing a quotation from Pedro Poveda (1919): “Our works, yes, they are what bear witness to us and eloquently express who we are.” They also conveyed the following message: “Thank you, Ms. Henríquez, for making this vision a reality!”

She also received a book of signatures, filled with messages and congratulations written by those in attendance as they arrived, as well as words and speeches in her honor during the event and letters sent by colleagues from foreign universities and the Teresian Association, including Gregoria Ruiz Alegarbes, President of the Teresian Association, Flor Cabrera and Francisco Imbernón from the University of Barcelona, and Ana Jesús Hernández from the University of Alcalá de Henares.

For her part, Argentina Henríquez expressed her gratitude for the recognition and extended it to the many people who collaborated with her in each of her socio-educational proposals and projects. She reiterated that her work is the result of a collective effort shared with her colleagues, whom she named in an extensive list.
