The Rajab Project, run by the Teresian Association (TA) in Jaén, has won the Ideal Award for Human Values 2025. The newspaper, Ideal, which has editions in Granada, Almería and Jaén, organises these awards every year.
On 12 June, the Íbero Museum in Jaén hosted the 2025 Jaén Ideal Awards Ceremony, which recognises the achievements of individuals, groups, institutions and companies that are helping to build a better province. The awards recognise the spirit of collaboration and strong sense of community that characterises Jaén society in five categories: Society, Human Values, Culture, Economy and Sport.
The Rajab Project, run by the Education and Culture Association and promoted by TA, received the 2025 Ideal Award in Human Values for its work in welcoming and supporting migrants in Jaén.
The project offers Spanish classes, advanced workshops and a classroom for school support. It also provides sociocultural and employment mediation and support services. It also offers spaces for reflection and intercultural coexistence.
Rajab focuses on listening to and caring for each person based on the essential value of their dignity. Its goal is to create bonds of encounter and solidarity among everyone. It works with a socio-educational approach, aimed at promoting migrants, walking with them and valuing their lives and abilities, with a view to enhancing their social and labour integration.
The Rajab Coordination Team expressed its gratitude for this award and highlighted the importance of the press ‘as a source for reconstructing the history of every society in every time and place.’
