
The Teresian Association stands in solidarity with the people of Colombia and shares in their suffering during this difficult time following the recent earthquake. Olga Consuelo Vélez sends us updates and information from Bogotá.

On the afternoon of 25 July, we celebrated the life and legacy of Saint Pedro Poveda at the Teresian Association headquarters in Lima, Peru. This open community gathering was attended by members, collaborators, families, and friends. This year, the celebration coincided with Peru’s National Day on 28 July, the date of Poveda's martyrdom.

The Pontifical Mission Educational and Cultural Center came alive again as the six weeks summer camp kicked off last June 22 and concluded on July 31.

“Education as the foundation and driving force for social transformation and full human development. Inclusion – Inner Life – Innovation – Equity – Sustainability – Global Justice – Citizenship – Peace” was the theme of reflection addressed by the Teresian Association’s Council for Culture, held from 21 to 29 July 2026 at Santa María de Los Negrales.

For the month of July, Our Lady of Africa Centre in Equatorial Guinea run by the Teresian Association took a further step in its commitment to education that supports people at every stage of life. To this end, it launched, for the first time, a programme of summer courses for young people and adults. In addition, it once again organised a new edition of the educational and volunteering initiative ‘Super Holidays’.

The Community of Saint Pedro Poveda, part of the Parish of the Holy Family of Nazareth in Taquaritinga (São Paulo, Brazil), celebrated the feast of Saint Pedro Poveda once again on 28 July. More than a hundred people took part in the Mass and the procession that followed.

On 28 July 2026, the Cathedral of Saint Isidore in Holguín, Cuba, hosted a Mass in memory of Saint Pedro Poveda, who gave his life as a martyr for the faith on that very day in 1936. Holguín thus joined in celebrations taking place in various parts of the world on this day. The celebration in Holguín coincided with the conclusion of the 12th Summer School for Educators.

The Teresian Association International Youth Meeting (EIJIT 2026), held in Assisi in Italy from 23 to 28 July, provided a space for dialogue where young people reflected on integral ecology, consumerism, contemporary lifestyles and the values promoted by the Teresian Association: diversity, inclusion, dialogue and equality.
